Brazil's first Internet of Things network was born in Guanabara Bay.
From challenge to results.
01
The challenge
Tracking vessels across an entire bay
The Brazilian Navy needed to track vessels in Guanabara Bay, a vast area where cell coverage can't support the operation. The answer called for a dedicated long-range network, able to exchange data with each vessel in both directions.
02
The solution
A pioneering IoT network over the bay
In 2018, PHYGITALL and the Navy built Brazil's first Internet of Things network, with long-range, two-way telemetry: data travels from the vessel to the control room, and commands make the return trip. The project was carried out with CIAW, a Navy training center, and demonstrated at the RIDEX 2018 defense exhibition.
03
The result
Operational visibility for defense and the naval sector
The pioneering network made real-time vessel tracking possible. The same long-range network engineering now supports PHYGITALL's private LoRaWAN network in industrial plants.
